Freeriders epoxy EPX series is a range which includes shortboards, minmals and longboards. These will cater for the begginer, intermediate to experience surfer. Our boards have had been alot of research and devolopment, to get them to this performance level though years of experience and testing.
Contruction Method
Starting with a hand shaped blank made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) with a wooden stringer. This foam core is extremely light weight and represents a very small proportion of the finished weight of the surfboard. This weight saving core enables us to use additional layers of fiberglass and epoxy resins on the board giving us a much stronger and impact resistant surface skin.
The EPS core is hand finished and hand wrapped with 2 layers of 6oz
+ 1 layer of 4oz fiberglass fabric on top and 2 layers of 6oz fibreglass fabric on the bottom. Applying the fiberglass at this stage is much the same as a traditional custom surfboard would be constructed, this makes the surfboard seamless, unlike moulded or 'pop-out' surfboards which sometimes have a tendency to split along their seams.
After wrapping the core with fiberglass fabric, we saturate the board with epoxy resin, then place it in the ovens to heat and cure the epoxy resins.
All Freeriders epoxy EPX surfboards are fitted with FCS Fin Systems.
